How to configure Gmail
This guide explains how to add your Business Email mailbox to the Gmail app with IMAP and SMTP, so that you can read and send mail from your phone.
Before you begin
- A Business Email mailbox and its password. See How to create an email account.
- The mailbox username shown in the Business Email Panel.
- The settings below. For what IMAP and SMTP do, see IMAP and SMTP settings.
Settings you need
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Incoming mail (IMAP) | Server mail.apncloud.com, port 993, SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing mail (SMTP) | Server mail.apncloud.com, port 465 with SSL/TLS, or port 587 with STARTTLS |
| Username | The mailbox username shown in the Business Email Panel |
| Password | The password you set for the mailbox |
Steps
- Open the Gmail app on your phone.
- Tap your profile picture or the menu icon, then choose Settings.
- Tap Add account, then choose Other, or Other (IMAP) if shown.
- Enter your full Business Email address and continue.
- Choose Personal (IMAP) or IMAP as the account type.
- Enter your password, then the incoming and outgoing server settings from the table above.
- Finish the setup and check that your inbox loads.
Use the table, not guesses
The Gmail app may fill in settings for a Google account. Replace them with the values in the table so that the app connects to mail.apncloud.com.
Expected result
Your Business Email inbox opens in the Gmail app. A test message you send to another address arrives, and a reply to it arrives in the app.
If something goes wrong
- Wrong password or username. Read Email authentication errors.
- Mail stays in the outbox. Read Email not sending.
- Mail does not arrive. Read Email not receiving.
