Business Email vs Hosting Email
This guide covers how Business Email and hosting email differ, which one fits your needs, and why their settings must never be mixed.
APNCloud offers two ways to use email on your own domain. They are managed in different places and use different settings.
| Business Email | Hosting email | |
|---|---|---|
| How you get it | Bought separately in the Client Area | Included with eligible web hosting plans |
| Where you manage mailboxes | Business Email Panel | Email Accounts section of the Hosting and Reseller Panel, which is APNCloud Hosting Panel |
| DNS records | The Business Email values in Add MX records and Configure SPF | The records shown in your hosting account |
| Mail server settings | IMAP and SMTP on mail.apncloud.com, see IMAP and SMTP settings | The server settings shown in your hosting account |
| Renewal | In the Client Area | With your hosting plan |
Do not mix the two
Do not use Business Email DNS values or server settings for hosting email, and do not use hosting settings for Business Email. Mixing them can stop mail from being delivered.
How to choose
- Choose hosting email if your web hosting plan already includes the mailboxes you need and you manage the website in the hosting panel.
- Choose Business Email if you want a dedicated professional email service for your domain, separate from web hosting.
Owning a web hosting plan does not automatically include a Business Email subscription. Buy Business Email separately if you need it.
