Connect a domain to hosting
This guide explains how to connect a domain to your web hosting account when APNCloud nameservers are the authoritative DNS for the domain (Case B).
Before you begin
- A web hosting plan that is active. See Activation.
- Confirm you are in Case B. Read Find your DNS provider.
- The IP address for your hosting account, as shown in your hosting account details. Do not type an address from another source.
Steps
- Add the domain to your hosting account. Follow Domains and subdomains in the APNCloud Hosting Panel guide to add the domain.
- Open DNS Management in the Hosting and Reseller Panel and find the domain.
- Check the website record. It should point to the IP address shown in your hosting account. If it does not, correct it using the panel's record editor.
- Check the www record, if your site uses
www, so it points to the same place as the main record. - Wait for propagation. Changes can take time to spread. Check again after a few hours if the site does not open.
- Confirm the connection. Open
https://yourdomain.comin a browser. Then check the record withdig A yourdomain.com +short.
Only edit records in Case B
If your domain uses external nameservers (Case C), editing records in the Hosting Panel changes nothing that visitors see. Edit the records at your external DNS provider instead.
Expected result
The domain opens your website, and dig A yourdomain.com +short returns the hosting IP address from your account.
If something goes wrong
- The site still shows a different page. Check whether the domain points elsewhere. Read Domain connected but not visible.
- The site does not open at all. Read Website not opening and DNS not resolving.
- You do not see DNS Management. It may not be available for your plan. Ask support.
