Reseller operations
This guide explains how to watch your resource use, back up and restore customer accounts, message customers, handle tickets, and respond when a customer's account is suspended or runs out of package resources.
Before you begin
- A signed-in reseller account in the Hosting and Reseller Panel.
- Your reseller plan details, including the backup options it includes.
- The list of customers whose accounts you manage.
Steps
Check statistics and resource use
- Open the statistics or resource monitoring section.
- Review the free resources in your reseller account, and the usage of the largest customers.
- Compare the figures with the limits in your plan. Act early, before the account runs short.
Back up and restore
- Open the backup section and choose the customer account to back up.
- Start the backup and wait until it completes. Check that it appears in the backup list.
- To restore a customer's backup, select it and restore to a test location first where the panel allows it. Only restore to the live account after you have checked the backup.
Restoring can overwrite a live site
Restoring a backup can replace the current files and data of a customer's site. Confirm with the customer first, and take a fresh backup of the current state before you restore.
Message customers
- Open the messaging option.
- Write a short, clear message, such as a maintenance notice or a renewal reminder. Do not include passwords.
- Choose the customers to receive it, then send.
Handle tickets and contact the administrator
- Open the ticket section to answer customer requests.
- For anything your plan does not cover, contact APNCloud support from the Client Area.
Suspension and exhausted resources
- If a customer's account is suspended, find out why. A common reason is an unpaid invoice.
- If a package has run out of resources, either increase the limit within your reseller allocation or ask the customer to reduce their use.
Expected result
You can see how your resources are used, you have a current backup for each important account, and your customers know about any changes that affect them.
If something goes wrong
- A backup does not complete. Check the free storage in your reseller account and try again.
- A customer account is suspended unexpectedly. Check the reason in the account details, then read Hosting suspended.
- A customer reports slow or failing sites. Check their resource use and logs. Read Resource limit reached.
