User packages
This guide explains how to create, edit and remove a hosting package, what each limit and permission means in practice, and how to set up a package before you give it to a customer.
Before you begin
- A signed-in reseller account in the Hosting and Reseller Panel.
- Your reseller plan details, so you know the resources you can allocate.
- A plan for the customers each package is for, for example a small site, a shop or a multi-site business.
Steps
Create a package
- Open the packages section and choose the option to add a package.
- Enter a clear name, such as
Small websiteorOnline shop, so that you can tell packages apart. - Set the storage, bandwidth and other limits. Keep each limit within what your reseller account can allocate.
- Turn each feature on or off, such as SSH, cron jobs or PHP settings. Only enable features your plan allows.
- Save the package. Do not assign it to a customer yet if you want to test it first.
Edit or remove a package
- Open the package and change the limits or features you need.
- Check which customers use the package before you change it. A change can affect them.
- To remove a package, check that no customer uses it. Remove only unused packages.
Configure packages before you assign them
Create and test a package before you assign it to a customer. Changing a package later can surprise customers who depend on a limit.
What the main limits mean
| Limit | Practical effect |
|---|---|
| Storage | Total files, databases and mail that the customer can hold |
| Bandwidth | Data transferred to visitors each period |
| Domains | Number of domains and subdomains the customer can add |
| Number of mailboxes the customer can create | |
| Databases | Number of MySQL or MariaDB databases |
| FTP | Number of FTP accounts |
| SSH access | Whether the customer can log in with a secure shell |
| PHP access | Whether the customer can choose PHP versions and settings |
| Cron jobs | Whether the customer can schedule tasks |
Set limits that match the customer's needs. A limit that is too small makes a site fail. A limit that is too large uses resources that other customers need.
Expected result
The package appears in the list with the limits and features you set, and you can assign it to a customer.
If something goes wrong
- You cannot save the package. A limit may be more than your reseller account can allocate. Lower the value and try again.
- A customer reports a limit they did not expect. Check the package they use and compare it with what you promised.
- A package cannot be removed. Customers still use it. Move them to another package first.
