Understanding reseller hosting
This guide covers how a reseller account differs from an individual hosting account, what resources a reseller has, and how quotas limit what you can give to customers.
A hosting user has one account for one website or set of sites. A reseller has an account that can create and manage many hosting users. Each hosting user you create draws on the resources of your reseller account.
Think of your reseller account as a pool. You decide how much of the pool each customer receives, through packages. Your reseller plan sets the size of the pool, and it can limit:
- Storage and bandwidth for all customers together
- Number of hosting users and domains you can create
- Databases, email accounts and FTP accounts, where the plan sets limits
- Features such as SSH, cron jobs or PHP settings that you can offer
Check your reseller plan details before you sell a package. The numbers depend on your plan and are not listed here.
Your reseller login is different from a customer's login
You sign in to the reseller side of the panel to manage customers. Your customers sign in to their own hosting accounts. Keep your reseller credentials private, and do not share them with customers.
