Check hosting email routing and delivery

Use MX Records and E-mail Tracking to investigate hosting email. Delivery tracking reports server events; it cannot prove a message appeared in the recipient’s inbox or was read.

Steps

  1. Decide whether the domain uses hosting email or separately purchased Business Email. Use the matching service’s settings.
  2. Find the authoritative DNS provider before editing MX records. The panel’s local zone may not be the public DNS zone.
  3. In MX Records, review the destination records and local-versus-remote mail routing if that option is provided. Confirm remote routing with support when another service receives the mail.
  4. In E-mail Tracking, search a narrow time range and the intended sender or recipient. Save the queue/message ID and exact rejection or deferral text.
  5. Interpret accepted, deferred and rejected events separately. Remote acceptance does not guarantee inbox placement. A deferral may retry; avoid repeated duplicate sends.
  6. Test a message to and from an external mailbox you control and check the bounce and spam folders.

If something goes wrong

For a missing tracking feature or persistent deferral, contact support with the message ID, time and time zone, sender, recipient and redacted error. Never include mailbox passwords or full private message contents unless a secure support process specifically requires them.
