Install an SSL certificate on APNCloud Hosting Panel
This guide explains how to install a purchased SSL certificate for a domain in the Hosting and Reseller Panel, and how to confirm that HTTPS works.
Before you begin
- A signed-in Hosting and Reseller Panel. See Log in and find your way around.
- The issued certificate file and the CA bundle (intermediate chain) from your order. Do not use the private key from anyone else.
- The private key you created with the CSR, or the key file the order provided. See Validation and CSR.
- The domain already points to your hosting. See Connect a domain to hosting.
Keep the private key private
Only paste the key into the panel's private key field. Do not email it, store it in a public folder, or share it with anyone.
Steps
- Open the SSL certificates section for your domain in the panel.
- Choose the option to install or upload a custom certificate.
- Paste the private key into the key field. Check that you chose the matching domain.
- Paste the certificate (the issued file) into the certificate field.
- If the panel has a field for the CA bundle or intermediate chain, paste the chain from your order.
- Save the certificate, then open
https://yourdomain.comin a browser and check the padlock. - Turn on forced HTTPS if you want all visitors on the secure address. See SSL and HTTPS settings.
Expected result
The site opens over HTTPS, the browser shows a secure connection, and the certificate matches the domain name.
If something goes wrong
- The panel rejects the key or the certificate. Check that the key matches the certificate, that you copied the full text including the begin and end lines, and that the domain is correct.
- The browser still warns about the certificate. The chain may be missing. Add the intermediate chain from your order, then test again. Read SSL warnings and errors.
- HTTPS does not work at all. Check that the domain's DNS points to your hosting. Read SSL not working.
