What is included in a hosting plan?
This guide covers the features that most hosting plans describe, which limits to check, and why the exact allowance depends on your plan.
A hosting plan usually provides these parts:
- Storage space for your website files, databases and email. The amount depends on your plan.
- Bandwidth, which is the data transferred to visitors. Some plans set a monthly allowance.
- A control panel for managing files, domains, databases and settings. See the APNCloud Hosting Panel guide.
- Databases and PHP, for applications such as WordPress. You can choose PHP versions where the panel offers them.
- FTP or SFTP access for uploading files, where the plan includes it.
- Free SSL, included with eligible hosting plans. See SSL certificates.
- Email accounts on your domain, for eligible plans. See Hosting email.
- Backups, where the plan offers them. Do not assume a backup exists until you have confirmed it in your account.
Limits such as storage, bandwidth, number of domains, databases and email accounts are set by your plan. Check the plan details before you order, and check your usage in the panel afterwards. This guide does not list those numbers, because they change.
