Install or move a WordPress website

Use the application installer or a manual migration. Confirm the destination domain and folder before installing so an existing site is not overwritten.

Steps

  1. Back up both files and the database before moving a site. Use a staging domain for the first copy.
  2. Add the destination domain in the Hosting Panel and enable a valid certificate.
  3. For a new site, open WordPress Manager or the application installer if enabled. Select the HTTPS URL, intended directory and a unique administrator account. Use an empty directory.
  4. For migration, copy the files, import the database and update the private database configuration. Use a migration tool that safely handles serialized data when changing the URL; do not run a blind text replacement across a database dump.
  5. Save permalink settings and test the front page, administration, media, contact forms and checkout if present.
  6. Switch DNS only after the destination works. Keep the previous hosting during the DNS transition and keep a rollback backup.

Check the result

Confirm the HTTPS address, scheduled tasks, outgoing mail and backup restoration. Remove migration archives and installer scripts from the public directory after success.

If something goes wrong

For redirect loops, check the site URL and proxy HTTPS handling. A white screen needs the PHP error log and a controlled plugin/theme compatibility check on staging. Avoid changing several plugins at once.
